Setouchi Island Trip Cruises (瀬戸内しまたびライン)

There exists a plethora of ferry services running between Honshu and islands in the Seto Inland Sea. One cruise that offers a more comprehensive tour of the principal sights is the Setouchi Shimatabi Line, which departs from Ujina Port in Hiroshima City, sails to Mihara Port, and then turns back around. Passengers will sail aboard the Sea Spica, a cruiser that started running in the summer of 2020, and stop off that scenic destinations such as Shimo-Kamagarijima, Okunoshima, and Osaki-Shimojima on the way to and from Mihara.

While many who board the Sea Spica may be aiming for the termini of Mihara and Ujina Ports, the most fun people will probably have on the cruise in at one of the intermediate stops: Shimo-Kamagarijima and Okunoshima on eastbound cruises; Okunoshima and Osaki-Shimojima on westbound journeys. Tour one of the local museums on Shimo-Kamagarijima, feed the rabbits on Okunoshima, or buy some tangerines from a local stand and just savor the seascape while on the islands. Think of it as a pre-game vacation to wherever you actually intended to visit.
