Tenshin Hanten (点心飯店)

Tenshin Hanten, situated in the Yagenbori entertainment district of Hiroshima, is one of the city’s most venerable Chinese restaurants that’s been around for over 70 years. Retaining the atmosphere of a classic neighborhood Chinese eatery, the interior is remarkably compact—with just enough space for eight counter seats—allowing diners to watch the kitchen staff at work from any spot. The menu consists of à la carte items such as fried rice, pan-fried dumplings, and noodles, all offered at reasonable prices.

Moment of Joy

The signature item here has got to be the fried rice—it’s even written on the red lantern hanging at the storefront. Customers can choose from four varieties: standard, garlic, curry, and Sichuan pepper chili oil fried rice. For each type, there are three portion sizes available: half-sized, regular, and large.
