Toutetsu-an (饕餮庵)

Located about a 2-minute walk from Hakushima Station, the terminus of the streetcar #9 line, Toutetsu-an is a soba noodle restaurant that specializes in stone-ground, handmade soba noodles. This renowned soba restaurant, which thrived for 25 years in the neighboring city of Kure, relocated and reopened in 2025, in the Hakushima area in downtown Hiroshima. The soba menu offers two types of soba: hot soba and cold soba. Customers can also order set meals that combine soba with tempura or tempura rice bowls.

The soba served at Toutetsu-an are manufactured by hand every morning in the restaurant’s noodle-making facility. Carefully selected domestic buckwheat seeds are ground into stone-ground flour, and the noodles are made to the optimal hardness according to the temperature and humidity. This establishment is committed to making 100% buckwheat soba, allowing visitors to enjoy the fragrant flavor that can only be experienced from pure buckwheat noodles.
