Japanese Culture Classroom (和のこと教室)

Hiroshima Kimono Asobi’s Japanese Culture Classroom is a Japanese cultural experience program geared towards foreigners visiting Japan, situated in the heart of Hiroshima City. Participants can enjoy activities such as tea ceremonies, calligraphy, origami, or trying on a kimono in either Shukkeien (Hiroshima’s landscape garden) or the “Japanese Culture Schoolhouse” building. Do note that experiences held at Shukkeien require at least three participants in order to happen, but at the Japanese Culture Schoolhouse, even a party of one can participate in a workshop or simply put on a kimono.

Moment of Joy

At the Japanese Culture Classroom, a program that caters to international visitors to Japan, participants can take part in putting on a kimono and trying their hands at a wide range of activities like sado (the art of the tea ceremony), shodo (Japanese calligraphy), and origami. Since accessories such as zori (straw sandals) and tabi (socks for the sandals) are available for rental, visitors can arrive empty-handed and have a good time trying on kimono. Furthermore, some experiences let visitors take home the objects they made as a memento of their trip, so those courses are the most recommended.
