Sound Salon Tetoteto we is a healing salon on the island of Osakikamijima. Customers can take part in a healing experience that relaxes the body whilst lying on a tatami floor in a traditional Japanese house. There are a variety of items used in the healing experience, such as tuning forks and “crystal bowls,” which are container-shaped musical instruments made of crystal. The healing experience can take anywhere between 30 minutes and two hours depending on the course selected, so it’s recommended to visit during a long break in one’s travels.

It is thought that the gentle sounds heard from the crystal bowls and the vibrations felt on the skin while lying on the tatami trigger the parasympathetic nerves and alleviate pent-up stress. Additionally, customers can purchase healing items such as crystal bowls inside the store so they can enjoy the healing experience in their own homes.
