YOU & I TATEMACHI (ユーアンドアイタテマチ)

Only three minutes away on foot from the Tatemachi streetcar stop, YOU & I TATEMACHI is a popular shop known for its gluten-free bento boxes made with germinated fermented brown rice. Though it only sells meals to go, the shop also has a bench outside, allowing customers to enjoy their purchased bento boxes and side dishes (weather permitting). They offer seven types of bento boxes, including a weekly special, and all can be reserved and picked up in advance.

All of YOU & I TATEMACHI’s bento lunches are completely gluten-free, and some are vegan to boot! They are meticulous in their methods to not use any wheat whatsoever, such as when they use rice flour instead of breadcrumbs for fried foods. In addition, the rice used in the bento boxes is germinated fermented brown rice, which is renowned as Japan’s superfood and has been garnering attraction in recent years because it is more nutritious and easier for the human body to digest and absorb than regular brown rice.
