Hiroshima Castle Sharaku (広島城射楽)

Experience Kyudo, traditional Japanese archery, on Japanese castle grounds. Hiroshima Castle SHA-RAKU, conveniently located in the Sannomaru complex at Hiroshima Castle, offers programs for visitors to try their hand at the historic martial art. It has been loved by people all over the world since the days of the samurai. The owner, who is an expert in Kyudo, will teach you how to use the equipment and how to set up your body so that even beginners can shoot a bow and arrow. You can also rent a kyudo dogi (top) and hakama (bottoms) for a more authentic experience.

The appeal of Hiroshima Castle Sharaku is that even beginners can easily experience Kyudo. You can choose to shoot between 12 – 40 arrows, and if that’s still not enough, it is possible to shoot more in increments of 8 arrows. Of course, you will be given detailed instructions on how to handle the equipment, how to set up your body, and how to shoot. The staff give instructions 1-on-1, so relax knowing that the instructions you receive will be perfectly tailored to you.
