Casual Japanese Eats
What do Hiroshima locals normally eat? It’s a lot more than okonomiyaki and oysters. Dig into rich, umami bowls of Japanese curry. Find fresh and affordable yet locally sourced kaiten sushi. Slurp up bowls of Sanuki udon, authentic Hakata ramen and sarashina soba. These choices are just a toe in the water, though. Wade in deeper to find crispy Edomae tempura, juicy Mochibuta tonkatsu, hearty bowls of gyūdon, steaming sukiyaki and more below. Our casual eats selection in Hiroshima is your insider on the local diet.

Soba Musou (Soba無双)

Soba Musou, located in the bustling Hatchobori, is a soba restaurant that serves creative soba dishes incorporating Japanese, Western, Chinese, and Korean influences. It’s so popular that there’s always a line of locals and tourists during lunch time. On the other hand, dinner is restricted to reservations (accepted for groups of four or more). At night, the place transforms into an izakaya (Japanese pub) where diners can enjoy alcohol, bar bites, and soba in a relaxing atmosphere. Unusually for a soba restaurant, it also serves breakfast.

Soba Musou dishes out a wide variety of creative soba recipes. They offer novel soba dishes that incorporate the flavors of various international cuisines–such as Chinese ramen chicken broth and Indian curry–all while preserving the traditional form of Japanese soba.
