Oyster House Teraiwa (かきの館 てらいわ)
Oyster House Teraiwa is an oyster restaurant directly operated by fishermen, located on the opposite side of Miyajima from Itsukushima Shrine, overlooking the floating Otorii gate. There is an oyster shack where you can grill oysters and seafood by yourself, and also a restaurant where you can enjoy excellent oyster dishes, both of which offer fresh oysters. In addition to oysters, you can enjoy fresh seafood such as fish, scallops, and clams, making it an attractive restaurant for tourists.
Moment of Joy
The attraction point of Oyster House Teraiwa is the large fresh oysters that can only be caught by experienced fishermen. At Oyster House Teraiwa, only high-quality oysters caught in the Ono Seto area not far from the restaurant are used. The Ono Seto area is famous for its rich nutrients in the seawater, therefore producing large, firm oysters. The vegetables and other seafood eaten with the oysters are also carefully selected from only the freshest ingredients, which are wholesaled to the markets in Hiroshima every morning.
