Fukuyama City Zoo (福山市立動物園)
The Fukuyama City Zoo is located about 30 minutes by car from JR Fukuyama Station. The zoo is a 30-minute drive from JR Fukuyama Station, and houses and exhibits not only standard animals such as giraffes, elephants, and lions, but also many rare animals such as penguins, serval cats, and Japanese monkeys. In particular, the zoo keeps a large number of birds, and visitors can get up close and personal with birds from various countries. The Tomitani Dome Land, an athletic field adjacent to the zoo, is also popular.

Moment of Joy
The Fukuyama City Zoo is a barrier-free zoo where visitors in wheelchairs and small children can view the animals with ease. The zoo also has an animal feeding and petting corner, and is a popular spot with many children. The park is also smaller than the Asa Zoological Park, also in Hiroshima Prefecture, and the Ueno Zoo in Tokyo, so it can be visited in about one to two hours. You can easily visit the park as one of the tourist attractions on your trip.
