Hiroshima Kimono Asobi Mizuhiki Experience (ひろしまきもの遊び 水引体験)
This is a tourist package that contains both the experiences of touring Hiroshima in a kimono and making a Japanese accessory by using “mizuhiki,” a traditional Japanese paperware crafting method. Using mizuhiki from Iyo City in Ehime Prefecture, participants can try making hair accessories, bookmarks, or straps (estimated time: 50-60 minutes). After making their accessories, participants will don a kimono and be able to freely walk about Hiroshima City.
Moment of Joy
How about making your own accessory using “mizuhiki,” a traditional Japanese papercraft? Mizuhiki is a twisted paper cord used in various ceremonies to mark milestones in the family, as well as for wrapping envelopes for gift-giving. The shape of the bow can signify a great many things, and since time immemorial the Japanese have been using mizuhiki to convey their feelings when giving presents by utilizing a myriad of mizuhiki twisting methods. Under this plan, participants can put a twist on a concept that has deeply permeated Japanese lifestyle by making an accessory that is uniquely theirs with no other duplicate in the world.
