Tamaki Deli (玉木商店)

Tamaki Deli is a roast chicken specialty store that has been a favorite of the Shiomachi shopping district on Ikuchijima for over 50 years. It is one of the most popular eating spots for cyclists on the Shimanami Kaido, and there are always many bicycles parked in front of the store. However, due to the popularity of the restaurant, it sometimes sells out by mid-morning on early days, so if you want to be sure to get a roast chicken, it is recommended to visit in the morning.

Tamaki Deli sells roast chicken in four parts: medium-sized chicken wings, large-sized chicken wings, legs (with thigh meat), and whole roasted chicken (reservations required). The most popular part of the chicken is the leg (thigh), which has a perfect balance of fat and meat. The chicken is slowly roasted for about an hour to remove excess fat, and then finished with a sweet and spicy sauce inherited from the previous owner. For those who want to enjoy roast chicken at home, the special sauce is also available in packets.
