Saijo Station (西条駅)

JR Saijo Station is the gateway to the Saijo area, with all lines of public transportation–trains and busses both–converging on it. Within the station building are railroads leading to both Hiroshima City and Fukuyama, taking a mere 30-something and 60-something minutes by train, respectively. Around the station are souvenir shops, convenience stores, pharmacies, Japanese restaurants, and business hotels, which puts the station in a prime position to be frequented by tourists from within and without Japan.

In the vicinity of Saijo Station are a bevy of famous sake breweries that have become a symbol of Saijo and every place that serves sake. Because the area can easily be toured on foot, on holidays, there are throngs of tourists making the rounds around the breweries. Also, since other tourist sites like the Higashihiroshima Arts and Culture Hall Kurara and the Higashihiroshima City Museum of Art are within walking distance of the station, tourists can make a full day out of touring the station area alone.
