Experience

Amochinmi Taisho no Sato (阿藻珍味 鯛匠の郷)

Amochinmi Taisho no Sato is an experience facility located in Tomonoura, Fukuyama. It has a medieval Japanese-style building that matches the atmosphere of Tomonoura Port. You can try your hand at squeezing and grilling chikuwa by hand, baking rice crackers from scratch, and mixing your own furikake. Inside the facility, there is also a directly-managed store that sells Amochinmi products, and you can buy chikuwa as a souvenir to take home.

Workshop Fee – ¥310 for chikuwa, ¥510 for five rice crackers, ¥720 for furikake,

¥1,390 to do all three in one day (regular price ¥1,540 during school holidays)
※ Reservations required

At Taisho no Sato, you can try your hand at making chikuwa using sea bream, which is also used in the products of the facility’s owner, Amochinmi. Chikuwa is made by impaling fish paste onto a thick stick, squeezing it into a cylindrical shape, and grilling it. The finished chikuwa can of course be eaten on the spot. There is also a combination experience that includes one handmade chikuwa, five rice crackers, and one furikake-making session.
