Andersen Hiroshima (広島アンデルセン)

Andersen Hiroshima is a bakery located on Hondori in downtown Hiroshima. It opened in 1967 as a flagship store of the Andersen Group, which was founded in 1948 when scar of the war still seriously remained in Hiroshima. In addition to breads of European origin, the store offers a variety of products that expand the enjoyment of living with bread including Danish pastries, which were first introduced to Japan in 1962 by the Andersen Group. There are also wines carefully selected by sommeliers and chocolates by JEAN-PAUL HÉVIN, a famed chocolatier in France. At the restaurant on the second floor, you can enjoy freshly baked bread along with dishes made with ingredients produced in Hiroshima.

Andersen Hiroshima is popular for its original bread; “Hiroshima Sour Bread,” available only at this store, is a long-selling product with many fans. This sour bread is made with lactic acid bacteria derived from Japanese sake produced in Saijo, Hiroshima, and has the word “HIROSHIMA” baked onto its surface. In the Hygge Park on the south side of the store, you can enjoy bread, sandwiches, and drinks in a space surrounded by trees.
