Joge Scarecrow Festival Set for November 1st-15th!

Autumn has many symbols associated with it in Japan, but in Fuchu City (the one in Hiroshima, not the one in Tokyo), one of those iconic symbols is the scarecrow! Joge, a more rural part of Bingo Fuchu, puts on a scarecrow festival for the first half of every November, and locals and visitors alike flock to see the amusing and clever designs people can churn out. It will be held at Yano Onsen Park Shiki no Sato (府中市上下町矢野691-2), which may be hard to access via public transportation, but there is still an irregular bus service to Yano Onsen from JR Joge Station, itself accessible from Hiroshima City by highway bus from the Hiroshima Bus Center. See for yourself how creative locals can be in making their own scarecrows this fall!
