Atomic Bombing Memorial Observances Start Next Month!

The first atomic bomb ever used in human history detonated above Hiroshima City on August 6th, 1945, a date that will forever be ingrained into the minds of Hiroshimarians. Although the bulk of the observances will take place on the 6th, some events, such as the Atomic Bomb Victim Memorial Ceremony held inside Shukkeien, will be held as early as August 1st. Tourists need not be in town on the 6th to see how seriously the people of this city take peace, but if they are in Hiroshima City on the evening of the 6th, they have a chance to write a message on a paper lantern to float down the Momoyasu River.
