Atomic Bombing’s 81st Anniversary on August 6th!

The first atomic bomb ever used [on humans] in history detonated above Hiroshima City on August 6th, 1945, a date that will forever be ingrained into the minds of Hiroshimarians. Although the bulk of the observances will take place on the morning of the 6th within Peace Memorial Park, some events, such as the Atomic Bomb Victim Memorial Ceremony held inside Shukkeien, will be held as early as August 1st. If tourists are in Hiroshima City on the evening of the 6th, they have a chance to write a message on a paper lantern to float down the Momoyasu River. The sight of everyone’s glowing lanterns meandering down the river from a nearby bridge is one people won’t soon forget. For the best vista at night, might we recommend Orizuru Tower’s observatory on the 13th floor? It may be pricey, but there is a rooftop bar serving up fancy drinks with bar bites, coupled with smooth music to let visitors end the night on a high note.
