Hiroshima Gokoku Shrine Kimono Prayer Experience (着物で広島護国神社の参拝体験)
This is a tourist package that contains an assisted fitting of a kimono and a formal prayer session at Hiroshima Gokoku Shrine as a set. The kimono that participants try on is called a “homongi,” a semi-formal kimono of high social status, and with that comes a hair arrangement conducted by a beautician. At Hiroshima Gokoku Shrine, participants can directly tell the gods their wishes through this formal prayer, and a Shinto priest will teach everyone about how to pray as well as about the history of Hiroshima Gokoku Shrine. After the experience ends, participants can draw a fortune (expenses not included) or have a photoshoot on the shrine grounds with the remaining free time set aside for them.
Moment of Joy
How about taking part in a prayer at Hiroshima Gokoku Shrine located in downtown Hiroshima City, a custom that is but a fraction of Japan’s ancient culture? Under this plan, participants can dress up not in a casual, everyday kimono, but rather, a “homongi” of higher social status while praying at a shrine. At the shrine, everyone will be able to experience a formal prayer after entering the prayer hall where the gods reside and being purified by the Shinto priest. Participants can also feel the shrine culture that has been passed down since time immemorial in Japan by listening to the gagaku musicians play and watching the miko (shrine maidens) dance while they pray inside the hall.
