Iwakuni City Visitor Center Honke Matsugane (岩国市観光交流所「本家 松がね」)

Iwakuni City Visitor Center Honke Matsugane is a 3-minute walk from Kintai Bridge, and was a hairdressing store built around 1850 that has been converted into a tourist information center. Inside the facility, visitors can enjoy tasting local cuisine representative of Iwakuni and sake produced in Iwakuni (both for a fee). There is also an armor experience available only on Saturdays and Sundays. At the armor experience, you can take photos wearing armor like a samurai (reservations required).

At the Iwakuni City Visitor Center Honke Matsugane, you can sample Iwakuni’s local cuisine and specialties for a fee. Especially popular is tasting a bite of Iwakuni-zushi, a local specialty of Iwakuni. Iwakuni-zushi is pressed sushi made from rice harvested in Iwakuni, mixed with vegetables such as lotus root as well as small fish. The armor experience is also popular with tourists, who wear armor and take pictures in front of the Kintai Bridge.
