WoodOne Museum of Art (ウッドワン美術館)

The WoodOne Museum of Art is a museum operated by Hiroshima-based wood building material manufacturer WoodOne. There are over 800 items from all over the world–most of which are from Japan–in their collection, ranging from modern Japanese paintings to Satsumayaki made some 150 years ago. Besides the items on display in their permanent collection, there are a lot of special exhibitions centered on genres like nihonga (Japanese-style paintings) or porcelain. In the same area as the WoodOne Museum of Art are leisure spots like Mominoki Forest Park and an equestrian club that are bustling with people.

The WoodOne Museum of Art, which is managed by the building material manufacturing company, is rare amongst museums in that every corner of the interior–from the floor to the ceiling–is made of wood, which allows visitors to enjoy the items on display in a beautiful, warm space. Just outside the museum is a lush primeval forest, which means even the view from the window can be counted amongst the masterpieces of the museum. Visitors can enjoy drinks from European antique cups at the café, having an elegant time while gazing upon rich nature outside.
