Yamadaya Miyajima Flagship Store (やまだ屋宮島本店)

Yamadaya Miyajima Headquarters is the flagship store of Yamadaya, a long-established business that produces and sells Momiji Manju (a confectionery that is a specialty of Miyajima). At the Miyajima Headquarters, you can experience hand-baking Momiji Manju, and you can even eat the freshly made Momiji Manju right on the spot. The Momiji Manju hand-baking experience is held five times a day, so it is easy to fit into your travel schedule.

Moment of Joy

At the Yamadaya Miyajima Flagship Store, you can have the full experience of baking Momiji Manju by hand. You can make one with Koshi-an (mashed, sweet red bean paste) filling and one with chocolate filling, and bake them using the traditional hand-baking technique. The resulting Manju are different from those sold in the market, and you can enjoy the freshly baked sweets right there on site. Before or after the hand-baking experience, you can also take a tour of the factory where all the products are actually made.
