Miyajima Handcraft Workshop (宮島手作り工房)

The Miyajima Handcraft Workshop is located on Miyajima’s Omotesando Shotengai (the main shopping street), and is a place where you can experience creating something new with your hands. You can craft the island’s famous rice scoops with your favorite photos printed on them, or try metal branding letters and designs onto the ladle directly. This is an excellent spot for families and couples who want to share in a good time. Postcards depicting the Miyajima landscape are also available for sale in the store.

Moment of Joy

At the Miyajima Handcraft Workshop, you can try your hand at different forms of sketching and branding. You can make your own original rice ladle in the photo-etching experience by printing your own photo on the ladle. This has been a well-known craft on Miyajima for many years. For the branding experience, you can add to the design your ladle by branding on a maple leaf or miniature torii gate. Both the drawing and the branding take only about 7 to 15 minutes, so you can easily fit them into your trip.
