Hiroshima Okonomi Monogatari (ひろしまお好み物語)

Hiroshima Okonomi Monogatari is a tourist facility located just outside JR Hiroshima Station. 15 okonomiyaki stalls of various sizes are lined up around a large area that recreates the food stalls of Hiroshima from the 1960s. Each stall offers its own unique okonomiyaki and teppanyaki. The customer base ranges from tourists both from Japan and overseas, to locals living in Hiroshima. Many of the stalls have English menus as well as English-speaking staff.

The 15 okonomiyaki restaurants in Hiroshima Okonomiyaki Monogatari are all famous and popular among the people of Hiroshima. However the most popular restaurant would have to be “Denko Sekka,” where you can enjoy okonomiyaki wrapped in fluffy eggs like an omelet, as well as teppanyaki that goes well with an alcoholic beverage. The local way of eating okonomiyaki is to wait for the hot okonomiyaki to cool down by letting it rest on the small spatula.
