Mikawaya Coffee Kure Nakadori Store (三河屋珈琲 呉中通店)

Mikawaya Coffee is a café located on Kure Nakadori where lots of famous stores are congregated. Inside the Irish-esque café, which exudes a mid-twentieth-century vibe, diners can sip on rich, carefully selected coffee blends while gorging on nostalgic foods like gut-busting American waffles over 2 centimeters thick. There’s also a wide variety of lunch options like naval curry and pasta on the menu, so a visit outside of afternoon tea [coffee] time is also recommended.

At the Mikawaya Coffee Kure Nakadori Store, one can try a “Kaiji Curry” recipe that was inspired by something the JMSDF actually eats. The curry served at Mikawaya Coffee, which is a thick curry containing beef tendon and ground meat, is a Kaiji Curry served to the crew aboard the minesweeping mothership Bungo. Also, since smoking is allowed in the café, even smokers can enjoy coffee time without worry.
