Fukuzumi Fry Cake Shop (福住フライケーキ店)

Along with Kure Cold Noodles, crispy fry cakes are a favorite local delicacy of Kure. Fukuzumi sells traditional fry cakes with a crispy batter and a filling of sweet bean paste. No matter when you visit, you can always enjoy freshly baked fry cakes. The price is also inexpensive, at ¥80 per piece, so many locals in Kure buy dozens and dozens of them at a time.

Fukuzumi Fry Cake Shop, as the name suggests, sells only fry cakes. The surface of the fried cake is crispy and crunchy, and when you break the cake open, you will find that it is filled with hot sweet bean paste. It is available for take-out only, and you can take home a freshly fried cake at any time. If the fried cakes become cold after a while, reheating them in a toaster oven will restore their freshly fried crispy texture.
