Okonomi Village (お好み村)

Okonomi Village is a multi-storied building filled to the brim with vendors selling the exact same product: okonomiyaki and teppanyaki with alcoholic beverages and soft drinks. Pretty much every store inside has a history behind it, and while some establishments’ okonomiyaki may taste better than others’, you won’t find a terrible okonomiyaki inside here. Lots of locals swing by during lunch breaks or on the way home from work, and some undoubtedly have found a store in here that they swear by.

While the best okonomiyaki restaurant in the city may or may not be in this building, your quest for the best eatery will most likely begin here. Due to the village’s proximity to Hondori and the nightlife district in Shintenchi, a visit to Okonomi Village is an idea way to end a day spent shopping downtown or pre-game before hitting up bars at night. A true connoisseur would drop by the village on multiple days, trying different combinations at various restaurants to ascertain the best recipes and find the one establishment that just clicks, or further progresses one’s quest to find the truly best restaurant in the city.
